The ceramic pieces are painted with coloured slips, white, black and ochre when the forms are still raw and at their most responsive.
The black drawing on top of the clay surface is made with oxide once the piece has been fired to 1160 deg, then re-fired to a lower temperature. The internal space is captured in the building of the form, the marks made joining the clay together, it becomes the rhythym of the build.
The work, made with heavily grogged clay, can stay outside but its advised to house over winter.
