Norman Lamputt

After studying painting and lithography, Norman Lamputt left Shrewsbury School of Art in 1965 to became a full-time painter and illustrator. His interpretation of the Shropshire landscape in which he grew up is in the spirit of the great visionary painters of the romantic movement.

Norman Lamputt was a regular figure in the High Street, Much Wenlock, his brother still lives in the town but Norman moved away, deeper into the Shropshire countryside which features in many of his paintings.

And now another move, to Telford, a desire to move away from the hard work of living a rural life and instead change his perspective, change his relationship with the Shropshire landscape.
