Gemma was born in Birmingham in 1978, studied a BA in Visual communication at the University of Central England. She has an MA in Design and Illustration from the University of Brighton. Since 2008 she has lived and worked as an artist from her home by the sea in West Sussex.
Gemma makes characterful sculptures, often of dogs, whose personalities are so well presented that you feel they could jump onto your lap. Created using a mixture of wire, paper, metal and paper clay, she then paints her sculptures with watercolours and acrylics.
Inspiration comes from beach walks and visits to many wildlife sanctuaries along with her partner and two little boys Reuben and Theo.
