Gary Groucutt

Born in 1966, he studied Fine Art and Photography at Highfields Sixth Form College and Wolverhampton College of Art. He is first and foremost a purveyor of landscape painting and the understanding of weather. How it changes mood with the movement of light, to its effect on the geology and topography over time. He works in both painting and photography letting the two try to inform the other practice. His inspiration comes from nature and standing outside, taking in the visual pleasures of a storm developing and its impact on a landscape.

"I have studied the paintings of Thomas Girtin, John Constable, JMW Turner, David Cox and John Sell Cotman for as long as I can remember, they are the grand masters of this type of painting. Outdoor in all weathers, capturing the essence of what nature can throw at you."
He has held many one man exhibitions around the country, from Devon to Scotland, his work is held in collections around Europe, America and as far away as Australia.
