Artist
Jane Silk
Jane trained at Bath Academy of Art, Corsham, graduating in 1973, and has had a career in teaching until her recent retirement. The natural world has always been at the root of her inspiration. A keen walker and lover of the great outdoors, she instinctively responds to her surroundings and is currently especially inspired by her cliff walking on the coast. Weather and its impact on the environment, the power of the elements, erosion and decay – all play their part. She is fascinated by textural surface qualities and edges and enjoys exploring colour variations that can be achieved through complex layers of treatment, using a range of clay bodies, slips, oxides and glazes.
Jane’s work has been exhibited widely at galleries and exhibitions in the south east. She was a finalist for Surrey Artist of the Year 2018.
