‘I am an artist and illustrator working from my studio on a hill in rural Cheshire, usually with my dachshund at my feet fuelled by endless cups of tea. I studied an HND in Fine Art at Mid Cheshire College then Illustration BA at Manchester School of Art, graduating in 2017 with a First Class degree.
I draw inspiration from vintage illustrations, patterns and textures, daily walks in nature and the detail found in the everyday. I surround myself with small curated collections of vintage glass, ceramics, textiles, toys and books which heavily influence my work.
I love the physical process of manipulating materials to make sense of the shapes and forms I am trying to obtain as I build up a composition. Using mark making, printing and painting techniques to achieve textured and patterned papers which I then cut, often collaging directly from life, incorporating collected objects such as, vintage vessels, feathers found on a walk, or berries foraged from a hedgerow. My love of storytelling spills over into my work with seasonal flowers and foliage sometimes interacting with imagined characters.’
