“I try to convey truthful emotion in my work, a spark of something which speaks to me of the land, of the paint I’ve used, of the way I feel. Some motifs which repeat in my work are intentional, certain skylines and geographical places that are close to my heart in Shropshire and to my new home on the Welsh borders. I work outside, in all seasons. It’s a practice which supplies me with the drawings and memories that become the basis for my larger studio paintings.”
