Tessa Sambrook
Tessa Sambrook has spent most of her life dabbling in and around the world of art and design. Many a Saturday morning in her youth found her with her nose up against the windows of various jewellery shops. Trained as a stylist, Tessa went on to have an antiques business, which specialized in sourcing interesting and quirky items for the interiors trade. After a period working in the world of Special Educational Needs, Tessa has returned to her first love, jewellery.
ROKZ was borne out of a frustration with not being able to find or buy the sort of jewellery, particularly necklaces, which Tessa wanted to wear.
“I was conscious that I was not alone in not always wanting to follow the trend. I wanted to make individual pieces that used lovely stones with good clasps and which would be viewed as classics. I also wanted to make the stones speak for themselves in the context of colour, cut and texture.”
ROKZ necklaces are mostly individual and unique, with a few exceptions where designs and stones can be repeated. They appeal to women who are interested in statement jewellery, who do not necessarily want the brashness of items imported from the Far East, but appreciate the use of colour and form in a way that appeals to British and European sensibilities.
