Prof. Bernd Göbel
1963 to 1969 studied sculpture at College of Art and Design“Burg
Giebichenstrein”n Halle / Saale where he became Head of Sculpture
and Professor of Sculpture in 1982.
He is regarded as a major figure in the international medal world
receiving many honours including the Art Award of the German
Democratic Republic, the Grand Prix of the Fédération Internationale
de la Medaille, Paris, and the prestigious Sandford-Saltus-Award of the
American Numismatic Society,New York.
He retired from his academic post in 2008 and continues working as a
medallist and sculptor.
