Phoebe Stannard

Phoebe Stannard was born in Rome where she also studied as part of her research as the British Art Medal Society“New Medallist” in 2009 –2010. Her interest in the medal began when she made a medal for the BAMS“Student Project” in 2006, she continued making medals for throughout her degree and after graduation.

She describes her work as ‘theatrical, hypothetical and imaginary’ being inspired by classical myths and the Commedia dell’Arte, linking with her early years in Rome.

Currently exhibiting at the Victoria & Albert Museum in The New Medallists, she received a commission from BAMS and is Project Manager for the City of London Festival Foundry Project, a project that aims to teach 15 year olds how to make and cast a medal.
