Mychael Barratt RE

Mychael Barratt was born in Toronto, Canada where he studied Fine Art before moving to London in 1984 and attending Central School, St Martins from 1989 to 1990. He was made a Fellow of the Royal Society of Painter/Printmakers (RE) in 2002.

Working as a printmaker since 1991, Mychael Barratt has recently written a book on intagiio printmaking He put into practice all the techniques that he wrote about in one print.  'O for a Muse of Fire', based on the work of William Shakespeare, is a 26 plate etching which includes every technique from drypoint and engraving to mezzotint and aquatint.
 
Mychael Barratt is a narrative artist who illustrates incidents from everday life, fairy tale and Shakespeare. His irreverant sense of humour runs through all of his prints and paintings.
