Louise Mary

Louise completed a year long residency at the Bishopsland Workshops near Reading in August 2006 and is now working in the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham. She was greatly influenced by a semester of study at Kookmin University in Seoul in 2004, as part of her degree. Louise graduated in 2005 from Sheffield Hallam University with Ba(hons) Metalwork and Jewellery.

Her signature style involves producing unique ‘flower’ units which comprise metal tubing pieces soldered into intricate patterns. She relishes the challenge of using the mathematical patterns found in nature, whilst ensuring the ‘organic’ element of creation and craft is retained.

Louise also creates a range of silver Leaf Spoons. Each spoon is unique due to the organic process, which involves creating a spine which runs the length of the spoon, this has a lovely tactile quality as well as making the spoons very strong.
